Community for Actions against Drug Abuse (CADA) was established 2016. CADA was conceptualized and formed by communities affected by the drug problems in Soweto township in South Africa. The organization has since expanded its reach to three provinces of South Africa: Western Cape, Gauteng and Kwazulu Natal.
CADA is a non-governmental organisation, the major objectives of which are the prevention and treatment of alcohol and drug dependence and providing access to HIV services for People Who Use Drugs (PWUD). CADA provides community led responses to needs identified and expressed by affected communities to deal with escalating alcohol and other drug related problems.
Addressing alcohol and other drug related problems in South Africa. This is being achieved through provision of specialised accessible prevention and treatment services, hereby enhancing the quality of life and restoring the self-respect and dignity of persons affected by alcohol and other drugs.
CADA expands a range of services and resources for People Who Use Drugs (PWUD) and their families. These services include HIV Prevention, education and treatment services. These services are extended to all races.
CADA engages established clinics, with their capacity of trained staff and infrastructure, providing a sound foundation of services in the form of out-patient clinics and/ or clinic and/ or information offices, within disadvantaged communities.
